  2. Hi, I’m Julie. I’m Chopper’s human. I guess to tell you about Chopper I should give some background on me. I love animals and grew up around dogs and cats. I was more of a dog person than cat until one day I was attacked and bit in the face by a rottweiler. I had plastic surgery and years of panic attacks around dogs then in June of 2004 my step-sister called to say she needed help finding homes for a litter of puppies. Chopper chose me! I always wanted to get a dog for my 3 kids but was fearful because I would still have the occassional panic attack. We actually had a home for Chopper but they brought him back 3 hours later saying he was too scared! It worked out great for us! Chopper quickly let everyone know that he is very smart and learned lots of tricks, he can even spell! The funny thing is Chopper looks like a Rottie! He is part hound dog, beagle, black lab and a little touch of pit bull. Chopper has been with me through a divorce, all three kids moving out and a couple cancer scares and still keeps wagging that tail! On March 30th my daughter came to visit and while Chopper was greeting her at her car a car came flying around the corner and didn’t see him and POW, our lives would change forever. We rushed Chopper to the vet who calmed him and us down, after several hours they called to say his leg was badly broken and would need orthopedic surgery, we found an amazing vet who did the surgery and everything went great! Chopper was healing and doing well and the day before he was to go back to have the staples out he tried to run and shattered his leg. Instead of a trip to the vet to remove his staples he had his rear leg removed. I think we humans took it worse than him. He came home the next day and hopped around just fine. Something about those staples though, a week after his surgery I came home from work to find his e-cone ripped open and his staples ripped out. Another trip to the vet and more staples! I’m hoping he’ll leave these staples alone! Some tape on his cone and alot of supervision! He should get them out in another 8 days. That’s Choppers story. He has a one year old pomarat brother, Kobe and a 16 year old cat named Boots. Thanks for welcoming us to the tripaws community. I look forward to tips on the right harness and activities for him!
